On July 18th, 2010 the lucky attendees of the 3rd Annual P.L.A.Y. in the Jungle Party were treated to some extreme aerial acrobatics, steamy fire performers, a beautiful mermaid and even a skydiving demo team, all provided by yours truly…Zen Arts!

P.L.A.Y., which stands for Providing Laughter and Amusement for Youth, is a charity organization that strives to provide toys, books, and games to underprivileged children.

The event, which changes locations annually, was held this year at the exquisite and expansive Hummingbird Nest Ranch in Simi Valley, California. And of course, besides just being a guilty pleasure, guests can rest assured that all their debauchery was for a good cause.

The day started with our crew building a massive stage and awesome aerial apparatus for our show. Seriously people! This thing is amazing! It allows for our aerialists to dangle precariously at over 500 feet in the air. Not to mention the zip line type cable that allows them to whiz back and forth at high speeds above the crowd, all while performing their impossible aerial maneuvers. Can your aerial troupe do that? Didn’t think so.

You really had to be there to enjoy it, but see our video below or visit our Facebook album for more pics.

The day might have started with our construction crew, but we kicked off the event itself with our skydiving team.

Our licensed skydiver’s gave everyone a show as they dropped in from a whopping 10,000 feet. With smoke grenades in tow, and twirling round, they couldn’t be missed as they hurled towards us.

If you’re interested in adding them to your next event, please email us or call 310-259-7462.

As the day progressed, our fire performers did what they do best. Whether with the hoop or the staff, it was a captivating display regardless.

There’s just something about the beauty and danger of fire dancing that audiences can’t get enough of.

And, there are plenty more pics from our fire performance, so don’t forget to check them out.

Our lovely mermaid garnered a ton of attention that day as well, as she sunbathed in the nearby lagoon.

It’s not every day you see a real-life mermaid, so of course, the admirer’s didn’t miss a moment.

Posing for pictures every now and then, she proved to be the celebrity of the day. Who knew mermaid’s have groupie’s too?

Another new edition to the Zen Arts squad is our sphere contortionist. Don’t ask us how she does it, because we don’t know. She’s just very very flexible. 🙂

Alas, there isn’t enough space in the world for us to write about how great the event was. You had to experience it yourself to really believe, but if you want to see more pics, go here, here, here and here.
